KAYAK appoints jClarity, the Java performance specialists, to optimise their travel search applications
“Machine learning software keeps high traffic website running”
London, 11th Oct, 2017: jClarity, the Java performance tuning specialists, today announced that KAYAK, the world’s leading travel search engine is working with jClarity to optimize the performance of their java applications across their desktop site and mobile apps. KAYAK has already started to benefit from jClarity’s specialist performance diagnostics tools, machine learning algorithms and expert Java advice. Since installation this suite of tools has helped keep KAYAK’s high-traffic site functioning smoothly for its users worldwide.
KAYAK searches other travel sites to give travellers the information they need to find the right flights, hotels, rental cars and vacation packages. In order to operate this network, and cope with the demands of a constantly changing and increasing volume of travel data, KAYAK needs a robust website and user interface that can handle the consumer queries that KAYAK processes annually, to give customers the experience that they need and expect.
In an era where users demand low latency access to information, even small performance problems can lead to a loss of users and, consequently, loss of revenue, as well as increased data centre and hosting costs. Even well-resourced IT departments struggle to predict, diagnose and solve Java problems, without the help of machine learning. jClarity solves performance problems in cloud hosted and on-premise environments, allowing customers like KAYAK to immediately identify performance issues related to Java’s complex memory management. jClarity’s Java performance tools are simple to roll out and designed to work with cloud architectures; they are also extremely low impact “smart” tools that are dormant by default, in order not to waste customers’ IT resources, only activating for a few seconds when a diagnosis is requested.
jClarity helps KAYAK optimise the performance of their Java applications in a number of ways. Firstly, jClarity have applied their unique Java memory analysis tooling and machine learning to assist KAYAK’s staff to identify and correct Java memory management errors. Secondly, they have worked with KAYAK’s in-house technical staff to make application level and infrastructure changes to get the best out of Java’s runtime performance. Lastly, they provide a fast-remote advice service to help with the most complicated problems.
Derek Young, SVP, Chief Architect at KAYAK said: “jClarity’s monitoring services and products, together with their training and technical input, have improved our visibility of the performance of our Java applications. Moreover, they are proactive in helping us optimise the performance of our apps and have proved themselves a valued partner.”
Martijn Verburg, CEO, jClarity commented: “We’re really pleased to be helping KAYAK with their Java performance. KAYAK is a strong example of the sort of impact our technology can have where website availability is mission critical.”
Martijn Verburg added: “jClarity’s world leading Machine Learning analysis tooling, combined with its focus on customer support, has helped build a customer base of leading brands, including Tier 1 investment banks, e-commerce portals and technology firms. Our enviable reputation for solving complex software problems has made jClarity an indispensable partner to our customers. jClarity continues to grow rapidly on a strong pipeline of new business.”
